Shalom House

Shalom HouseShalom House is a Christian Servicemen's Center for American soldiers stationed in the Dongduchon, South Korea area. We are non-sectarian, therefore anyone regardless of race, nationality, church, creed, or rank is welcome.

Being surrounded by a foreign culture and separated from family can lead to all sorts of temptations and problems which can include alcoholism, gambling, prostitution, suicide and pornography. Family relations are often strained during this 12-month separation. Many solders are lonely and need a place to find a safe, comfortable "home away from home". For many GI's Shalom House becomes that "home". We are here to provide them an alternative that is in sharp contrast to the degrading experiences many solders encounter in other sections of the city.

Shalom House helps in five important ways:

  1. Sunday evening programs begin at 1730 hours and feature Praise and Worship, Fellowship, prayer, Bible study and home-cooked food.
  2. Special family-style dinners at Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays.
  3. To Provide a bridge between the two cultures. Here, Christian soldiers and wholesome Koreans meet and establish enduring friendships.
  4. Providing one-on-one discipleship for soldiers interested in developing character goals. This is where "the rubber meets the road" - 2 Timothy 2:2.
